A Week of Milagros

Wow this week was amazing. I have SO MUCH to say so I´m just gonna get right to it.

To be honest, the week started to get amazing on Thursday, when they called an emergency leadership meeting with the Zone leaders, district leaders and sister training leaders. So we got up bright and early at 4am to get to San Fernando where they pretty much changed everything. Last week in our mission conference with Elder Teixiera, he spoke a lot about the power of the Book of Mormon in conversion, and how we need to use it more. Well, President prayed a lot about that and decided that we need to use it as our first form of contacting. He explained that it took Joseph Smith 86 (that might be a wrong number) days to translate the Book of Mormon, or in other words, 8 pages a day (for the spanish version). President then challenged us as a leadership group to read the BoM in as many days as it took him to translate it, or in other words, 8 pages a day. And THEN he gave us another challenge. He told us that for every page we read daily, we need to give out BoM. O sea, 8 books a day. And it doesn't count unless that person accepts a follow up appointment.

He then said we were going to try it out as leaders until our next meeting tomorrow, and then present the challenge to the mission. That put a ton of pressure on me to be honest. I mean I was already stressed, but dang. So we got to work. They gave each companionship a box of books and told us to get to work. Here in Argentina, on the trains, there are people going from cart to cart selling things or playing instruments or whatever they can for money. So my companion and I and our zone leaders decided to preach :) We and the elders went from cart to cart presenting the Book of Mormon. We only found 2 people that wanted it, but it was so awesome.

This weekend has been full of miracles though. Giving out 8 books a day means a lot more contacting. Look, contacting is probably my least favorite thing to do, as I haven't seen any success from it yet in my mission, but we got to work and testified of the Book of Mormon within the first 15 seconds and WOW. I have never been rejected to many times and in so many ways ever in my life. But we were SO blessed! We found 7 people who were sincerely interested and who accepted an appointment. But the coolest thing is that we didnt always see the miracles directly from the people we contacted.. On Friday we got a text from the elders in our ward saying that they found a family with 10 PEOPLE who accepted and are super intertested. Honestly now I can't even imagine contacting without the book of mormon because using the book of mormon brings the spirit so strong and gives a purpose to what we´re saying.

This Friday I reach one year. I honestly can't believe how fast time has gone by. I feel like I´ve lived enough experiences in this one year to last a life time. But I also know there´s so much more I need to learn. I´m super excited for these last 6 months, but also super sad, because I know they´re going to go by even faster. I love the mission and I love being a missionary!

Love you all so much! I hope you have an amazing week!

Love,
Hermana Prestwich
